I decided to take photos of yesterdays outfit in the back garden.

Awwwwww, she’s such a baby!

My favourite thing about taking photos in the back garden is that I get to have my dogs in my photos

wpid-c360_2014-12-01-18-39-41-267.jpg

The dog I’m petting in the photo above is Bubbles. We adopted her 9 years ago from the local RSPCA. We adopted Noodle a year later. It’s weird to think we’ve had them so long because they both act like puppies. (although, noodle is the most puppy like. As much as I love her, she’s a bit dense…)

So Yeah, Dogs are great!

I found a “new” park is Gosford yesterday.  It’s a small park called Pioneer Park. As well as being a beautiful park, it also houses some really old graves (Mostly from the mid 1800’s) I didn’t take any photo’s of the graves. (It felt a little disrespectful. Also, what if there was a ghost!?)

The Emerald Ruby

Anyway, this is what I wore. I whipped up this fox pleated skirt Sunday afternoon because that’s the way I roll. I was going to use the fabric for some shorts, but I decided last minute that shorts were too much of a hassle to make on a Sunday afternoon.

Cardigan – Hell Bunny, Shirt: Thrifted, Belt: Alannah Hill, Skirt: Home made, Stockings: Coles, Socks: Ebay.

The Emerald Ruby

It amazes me that one can live in an area for so long (I’ve been in the same house for 19 years) and still not know all of its secrets.

The Emerald Ruby

You could say this is a foxy skirt (ha. ha. ha. I would make a great father)

 star shoes green skirt

This is the last item from my weekend sewing binge.

Home made skirt green big bow

I bought this fabric about 5 or 6 months ago, and I originally intended to create a pair of pleated high waisted shorts out of it.

Big green bow polkadot tights

Obviously that did not happen. Instead I made this skirt. It was partially inspired by a grey polkadot drop waisted dress with a giant bow by Alannah Hill.

wpid-c360_2014-11-11-17-53-06-595.jpg

The skirt is a 3/4 circle skirt with a gathered section in the lower portion of the dress. I made he skirt super flouncy (Because that’s the way I roll.) I’m thinking maybe I’ll have to compile a video of how swishy some of my skirts and dresses are (Comment or whatever if you want that to happen) because when I have a swishy skirt on, literally all I want to do all day is stand in front of a mirror and swish.

Also, just quickly, I reached 100 blog posts the other day (I totally missed it. I think this is post 103) so there’s that. Thanks to everyone who reads/supports my blogs 🙂 It means a lot 😀

Red Dr Martens

I sewed a dress yesterday. Today I wore the dress that I sewed.

Home made fairy dress Dr Martens

This is the first dress I’ve made out of a non stretch fabric. I also drafted the pattern myself. I’m quite surprised it turned out this well. The last time I attempted to sew a dress from cotton, it didn’t end to well (which is part of the reason I hardly sew dresses)

Velvet blazer forest little red riding hood

Hair bow: Alannah Hill, Choker: Home made, Velvet blazer: Thrifted, Dress: Home made, Tights: Myer, Shoes: Dr Marten.

I suppose you’d call this type of dress a ‘skater dress’. It has a fitted top, and the skirt is a 3/4 circle skirt. I’ve made the dress out of two layers of material. The inner layer is a floral printed cotton, and the outer layer is a sort of netting.

wpid-c360_2014-11-10-18-27-08-627.jpg

The frilly bits around the base of the dress were hand gathered, and then hand stitched around the base of the outer net layer of the dress. (never. again.(Although, in saying that, the gathered net frill is what turned this dress from an nice dress into a really nice dress))

wpid-c360_2014-11-10-18-19-31-139.jpg

If I had the choice, I would have used the machine to stitch the frill onto the bottom of the skirt, but unfortunately the net was super fragile, super stretchy and super uncooperative.

Sometimes you just need to wear bright clothing. Over the past couple of days I’ve found that i’ve had little time for leisure. As I’ve previously mentioned, dressing brightly helps to counteract the negative effects of being able too busy.

image

It was finally warm enough for me to wear this blazer again. The cuffs are actually sewn up, so there’s no chance of weaning this in cold weather. I’m really enjoying this sort of milder spring weather.

I sewed away all of my troubles last night. I’m sitting a big important music exam soon and I’ve been sick this week, so my flute playing has not been as good as it usually is, which has made me panic just a little. Sewing with metallic pink fabric and polka Dot tulle has made me feel slightly better.

image

As per the last skirt I sewed in this style, the flowers were the most time consuming part of the sewing process. The base skirt took about an hour and a half to sew. The flowers were are other 4 hours on top.

image

Sometimes you just have to spend too many hours hand sewing pink roses onto a tulle skirt.

It’s getting to that time in semester when dressing is difficult for me. There are two reasons for this : 1) I haven’t been sewing, therefore outfit repeats are inevitable and 2) I’m rather tired, which makes assembling an outfit difficult.

So there you have it. Those are the reasons why I’ve worn this outfit twice in a 3 days (although, the colour palette has changed slightly).

image
I’m going through a bit of a blouse thing at the moment. (as in, I’m lusting over a number of vintage ones online / wearing the ones I own heaps) it’s very refreshing, especially seeing at my shirt of choice for a while was actually a black or white singlet with a bow attached to the front and a large bolaro around the shoulders.

image
Despite my outfit ‘repeat’ I’ve done quite a refreshing thing with you footwear. I haven’t worn boots in about 2 years, so it’s nice to give them a bit of love.

I’we come to realise in the past few days that most of the clothes I have purchased this year have come from shop 55 https://shop55.com.au/. The best thing to from this (apart from some amazing clothes) is the fact I’m incorporating different silhouettes into my wardrobe.

image

The newest addition to my ever changing style is this fabulous cropped Blouse.
I’m not usually one for crop tops, but this Blouse was too cute to pass on. To get around the revealing nature of the shirt, I am wearing a cami underneath.

image

This shirt also makes my icecream skirt look significantly more ‘vintage’  which I’m kind of digging.

Roses are wet, violets are wet. I am wet, everything is wet.

The title of this post perfectly describes my Thursday.

When I left my house Thursday morning it was raining a little bit, so I decided to bring my umbrella. I go to class, and by the time class had finished, the weather had improved dramatically. On my way back to uni it started to sprinkle a little. Then I open up my umbrella, thinking it will keep me dry.
The umbrella did not keep me dry. The ‘little’  shower turned into a torrential downpour. Consequently, I was soaked in the process. My poor little umbrella did not stand a chance.

image

These pictures were taken after I had dried off ( and after the rain had stopped.) before the downpour I was having a brilliant hair day, but, as you can see here, my good hair day was not went to be 😦

image

Anyway, enough about the weather. Let’s talk about my pants. These pants are Literally the most comfortable pants I have ever owned. I bought them from shop 55 in woy woy https://shop55.com.au/ (I know I keep saying this, but this shop is my most favourite clothing store ever) I can’t remember exactly what era they’re from, but I think Wendy (who owns the place) said they were either 70’s or 80’s.
Fun pants are fun Yo

Let’s have a real talk about the weather…

I am so sick of the weather at the moment. Basically I had this awesome outfit planned out because the weather was yucky and cold the night before. When I woke up in was super hot, so I decided to wear something less warm. This was a bad choice.

image

Guess what temperature it was at uni.

image

It was a very cold temperature. Despite my smiling face, I was not a happy chappy.

image

The moral of this story is, don’t change your mind about pre planned outfits, because you might end up cold and miserable.
